Not in my lifetime have I felt the need to love my country as much as I do now, America is being tested; we are being tried by ideas out of the past, failed ideas that have granted the power hungry an opportunity to flourish for a moment. Those in Washington have grown accustom to taking our hearts, our hopes and our money and discarding them as easily as one might a piece of used tissue.
America was born on the backs of those who thought, the will of the people should, at all times, trump that of the government. Nevertheless, throughout our history there have been those who thought they could come and take away from the people, what is there God given right, the right to choose for themselves.
America is being tested.
This young republic has become the envy of the world, it being so young and so prosperous, has left the rest of the world sitting in awe of its glory. However, it has become the place where freedom is so free, the free have been led to believe that what is America, is less-great, than she ought to be. The free have been led to believe that this place of freedom is nothing more than a hot bed of hatred and corruption.
Well, I have no doubt that America is filled with those whose purpose in life is to satisfy their own needs, regardless of the circumstances. All one need do is look at how the politicians justify what they do in Washington as something done to help the masses. Their hypocritical push for a government run health care system is nothing like the medical program they provide for themselves and their families.
But I refuse to believe that Americans are as dumb as the politicians make us out to be. We might be lazy, but we’re not dumb. So when Americans decided to get up off their duffs, there is a reckoning coming to Washington, the likes of which has never been seen in history…
A great many Washington fixtures sitting in seats on Capitol Hill will find themselves joining the ranks of the unemployed.
America sleeps now, unaware of the monsters roaming the countryside, we’re ignoring the rattling shakes of the monsters every footstep, but are rousing due to the constant rumble. As we sit on the side of our beds, the sleep rubbed from our eyes, we begin to realize that that constant pounding was not a part of a dream, but that of an unwelcomed guest.
The true keepers of Americas’ liberty, the commoners, will bring down the monsters, not because we are brave, but simply because we are…
…American
However, I need to remind you that the voices echoing out of Washington are like that of the Pied Piper gathering the children for a trip into the woods.
Our leaders no longer remind us of what was, or what should be, without the twist of their own personal agenda seeping through their two-faced words. The American hope is so desperate, that we would cling to an anchor in the middle of the ocean if you painted well enough to look like a life-saver.
I listened to a Martin Luther King Jr. speech the other day and started to cry. He was a man who believed in is God, believed in his country and the America that could be. A man whose time in life was surrounded by hate, distrust, and obligatory change. Dr, King spoke of a nation with promise, capable of change and hope, not based on his own personal agenda, but an agenda steered toward the healing of uneducated minds.
America is being tested.
I know times are tough, I’m a victim of it myself. But since when has America been successful by allowing the government to dictate what it might need? Americans do better when they are allowed to be American, even if it means falling down and scraping your knee. Americans believe…
That which does not kill us, makes us stronger.
America is being tested.
Americans were asleep,
however…
Look around politicians, get what you can while you can.
There is a reckoning coming…
In 2010, you will be introduced to the real spirit that is…
America.
Whether facing down soft tyranny or bloodthirsty killers, Americans, once eyes are opened to the threat, which we face, will stand side-by-side with our neighbor and do what needs doing.
Because this is…
America!
